Anupriya Goenka On WAR's Success, Her Equation With Hrithik Roshan, Tiger Shroff And Aspirations To Do A Lead Role- EXCLUSIVE
With memorable roles in films like Tiger Zinda Hai, Padmaavat and now WAR, Anupriya Goenka is slowly and steadily getting there.  The actress' recent outing in War is earning her praises. The film has broken several box-office records so far and Anupriya has every reason to rejoice. So, as the film becomes a HIT, we engage in a quick chat with the actress wherein she speaks about her experience of working with Hrithik Roshan, Tiger Shroff. She also expresses her desire to do lead roles in movies.

Here are excerpts from our conversation:

Congratulations! The audience is loving your character in WAR. So tell us, how did you bag the role?
I got a call from Shaanu, the casting director of Yash Raj Films. At that time, she asked me if I’m interested to work in a film titled War. I remember I was shooting for something else at the time. I auditioned with Shaanu at her place. In the past, I had auditioned for a film which didn’t happen and then I did Tiger Zinda Hai, so that’s how they got to know me. Speaking of my audition for this film, after it was completed, I met Siddharth Anand, and then there was no looking back.

So, how was your experience of working with Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff?
It was a lovely experience. First of all, both as human beings are very sincere. Hrithik is a pure artiste. He really enjoys everything that he does. He puts in 200% of his hard work in whatever he does. Be it acting, dancing, stunts or looks. He included all of us in everything. In the song Jai Jai Shiv Shankar, it was Hrithik's idea that the background dancers should start dancing later on, so that it makes more sense. The best part of Hrithik is that he compliments everyone for even the smallest of things. He used to make us feel motivated. Tiger, on the other hand is chilled out, humble and very sincere as a human being. He is so talented with his dance, stunts and flips.

While we saw Hrithik and Tiger’s on screen chemistry, tell us about their off screen chemistry?
Hrithik and Tiger share an amazing chemistry. Tiger really idolizes Hrithik and it was very visible throughout the shooting and Hrithik takes care of him as a younger brother.

After doing Tiger Zinda Hai and now WAR, we can officially call you a YRF girl…
Third film hone do fir bolo. Personally for me, YRF does feel like home and they have a huge contribution in my career.

Technically, Padmaavat was your first huge break, but due to the controversy, Tiger Zinda Hai came first…
It was a lifetime experience to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali but due to the controversy, the film came out later but that's fine. I would love to work with Mr Bhansali again. He is a genius and an intelligent director. He totally gives you a different form of acting. SLB makes you realise that you can possess jealousy and yet be a good human being.

The word ‘nepotism’ has been used and abused severely. Since you come from a non-filmy background, what’s your take on it?

Of course, nepotism is there in Bollywood and it's natural that everyone would want to see their close ones growing, but I feel talent is a must as well.

You’ve worked with the likes of Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Hrithik Roshan this time. Who’s next on the list?
It’s nothing of that sort. I just hope that I get to work with every actor. I get to learn from them but yes, I wish to work with Rajkummar Rao and Ayushmann Khurrana at some point as they are lovely actors and I love the way they choose their scripts. Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Ranbir Kapoor are also on my wish-list. Having said that, I am now a self-proclaimed Hrithik Roshan fan.

After trying your hands on period drama and action flick, which is the next genre on your mind?
I think comedy as it’s very difficult to make people laugh. I want to try rural characters too. Smita Patil and Shabana Azmi are my inspiration as I would love to do films like Earth, Silsila and Umrao Jaan.

When will we get to see you in a full-fledged lead role?
I want to do a lead role and I am surely ready for it. It's not easy to shoulder the responsibility of a film, but now I think I can and I would like to believe that I have built that kind of trust, so I am hoping that I’m moving step-by-step for central roles and I really want to do lead characters now.
